LOS ANGELES - The sixth-ranked Bruins won their third-consecutive match with a 5-0 victory at Stanford at the Cardinal's ACSR Sand Volleyball Courts on Saturday afternoon. UCLA improved to 6-2 on the year while Stanford fell to 0-5. The win was UCLA's first 5-0 sweep of the season and just the second in program history.
Taylor Formico and Karsta Lowe clinched the Bruins' team win with a straight-set victory over the Cardinal's Kelsey Humphreys and Madi Bugg (21-18, 21-7). Lowe and Formico are now 3-2 overall (3-1 at No. 3 doubles and 0-1 at No. 4 doubles).
At #5 doubles, Karly Drolson and Rachel Inouye posted a straight-set win over the Cardinal's tandem of Morgan Boukather and Megan McGehee, 21-8, 21-16. The duo improve to 6-2 on the year and 3-1 at #5 doubles.
The Bruins now face No. 3 Hawai'i for the second time in two days at 3:00 p.m., weather permitting. With inclement weather in the Bay Area, UCLA's last two matches today were flipped since UCLA just played Hawai'i on Thursday.
Sunday’s competition (March 30) will be a pairs tournament played on all four courts starting at 8 a.m. PT. Admission and parking is free. Competition will happen rain or shine. Fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets for seating.
