As a team, the Bruins posted an opening day score of three-under par 285 and led runner-up Stanford (286, -2) by a stroke. Arizona was third at 287 (-1), followed by Washington at 290 (+2). Arizona State was fifth at 291 (+3) and top-ranked USC lurked in sixth place at 294 (+6).
Lee and Ridderstrom were tied for third place individually. Lee made four birdies and a bogey and played the inward nine in 34 (-2). Ridderstrom posted one her best rounds of the year, making three birdies and 15 pars while playing the outward nine in 34 (-2). Freshman Alison Lee made four birdies and two bogeys on her way to a two-under par 70 and was tied for fifth. Tied for 44th was senior Ani Gulugian after posting a 77 (+5) and tied for 51st was freshman Bronte Law, who carded a 78 (+6).
Stanford’s Mariko Tumangen posted a 67 (-5) on Friday and was in first place.
