BERKELEY, Calif. - Junior Ally Carda had three hits at the plate, including a home run, and pitched a three-hitter in the circle with six strikeouts, as the second-ranked Bruins completed a three-game sweep at California with a 3-2 win on Sunday at Levine-Fricke Field.

The Bruins improve to 44-4 overall and 15-3 in Pac-12 play, while the Golden Bears fall to 23-23 and 4-12 in league action.

Carda improved to 25-2 on the season, allowing two runs, three hits and four walks in the complete-game win. She had 1-2-3 innings in the first, fifth and seventh, striking out a pair in the second and third innings. UCLA had seven hits as a team, with sophomore Mysha Sataraka adding a pair.

Just three pitches into the game, Carda staked the Bruins to a 1-0 lead, belting her ninth home run of the season to left to put the visitors up.

In the bottom of the second, the Golden Bears had a chance to tie it, but the arm of freshman Gabrielle Maurice kept the home team off the scoreboard. With one out, Victoria Jones walked, and one out later, moved to second on a wild pitch. Jordan Wallace followed with a single to left, but Maurice’s throw was waiting at the plate for Jones, as junior Stephany LaRosa applied the tag to end the inning.

In the fourth, Cal took the lead on one swing of the bat. Danielle Henderson drew a leadoff walk and was pinch-run for by Mary Lee, who scored on a home run to center by Jones to make it 2-1 Bears.

The Bruins, who left two on base in both the first and second innings, three in the third and one apiece in the fourth and fifth, rallied with two outs in the sixth to tie the game. Carda reached on an error by Cheyenne Cordes at short and freshman Delaney Spaulding followed with a double off the top of the wall in right field, as Carda just beat the throw home to make it 2-2.

Another miscue for the Golden Bears in the seventh led to the Bruins plating the go-ahead run. Sataraka doubled to left-center to open the inning and advanced to third when the sacrifice attempt by Maurice was bobbled by Henderson at third. One out later, senior Jessica Hall lifted a fly ball to right-center which was deep enough to score Sataraka from third to put the Bruins up 3-2.

The Bruins entertain Stanford in their final home series of the regular season at Easton Stadium next weekend. Friday’s game is at 7 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks, Saturday is at 3 p.m. on ESPNU and Sunday is at 12 p.m. on ESPN.
