UCLA had little trouble against the Hornets, cruising to wins at court Nos. 1 and 2 to pull off the doubles point. The Bruins lost just one game in those two victories, as top-ranked Robin Anderson and Jennifer Brady won 8-1 at the No. 1 position, and Courtney Dolehide and Chanelle Van Nguyen won 8-0 at court No. 2. UCLA has won the doubles point in all 24 matches this season.
Much of the same followed in singles play, with no Bruin player surrendering more than two games at any court. Straight-set victories by Catherine Harrison (court No. 4) and Brady (court No. 2) quickly made the score 3-0. The clinching win for UCLA came at court No. 1, where the second-ranked Anderson was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Daria Savchenko.
With her win on Friday, Brady, the 2014 Pac-12 Singles Champion, extended her singles winning streak to 20. She has not lost a singles match since Feb. 10.
The UCLA-Ole Miss match follows men's first-round action tomorrow, as Boise State will take on San Diego at 9:00 a.m. followed by sixth-seeded UCLA and Cal Poly at Noon. Tickets to attend the NCAA Regionals are $7 for adults and $5 for youth/students (w/valid ID).
With Friday's loss, Sacramento State ends its season with a 12-17 overall record.
