Senior Karsta Lowe was named to the Preseason All-Pac-12 Team, as voted on by the league's coaches and announced by the conference on Wednesday. The Preseason Coaches Poll was also released, with the Bruins checking in at eighth with 58 points.

Lowe, an AVCA Honorable Mention All-America a year ago, led the Bruins with 4.31 kills and 4.68 points per set in 2013. The AVCA All-Pacific South Region and All-Pac-12 First Team honoree was second among Bruin hitters with a .290 hitting percentage, adding 0.75 digs and 0.61 blocks per set.

Lowe was ranked fifth last season among Pac-12 players in kps and pps, posting double figures in kills in 29 of 30 matches, including 24 in a row to end the season. She surpassed the 20-kill mark eight times in her junior campaign, hitting .400 or better on seven occasions.

Stanford came in at first in the Preseason Pac-12 Coaches Poll with 114 points, one ahead of second-place USC, with both schools earning five first-place votes. Washington, which earned the other two first-place nods, was third with 106 points, followed by Arizona State (4th, 73 pts.), California and Oregon (T-5th, 70) and Colorado (7th, 62). After UCLA came Arizona (9th, 51), Utah (10th, 39), Washington State (11th, 25) and Oregon State (12th, 11).

The Bruins return 11 letterwinners and five starters from last year's team which went 15-15 and placed 10th in the Pac-12 (6-14), while bringing in seven newcomers to this season's squad.

The UCLA Alumni Match will take place on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. at the John Wooden Center's Pardee Gymnasium, while the regular season begins the following weekend at the LMU Invitational (Aug. 29-30). Venue information for the 2014 UCLA home schedule is still pending.
