LOS ANGELES, CA -- The 2014 U.S. Amateur Championship came to an end for UCLA junior Jonathan Garrick when he lost in match play Thursday at the Atlanta Athletic Club’s Highland Course in Johns Creek, GA.

Garrick fell 1-up to Los Angeles native Eli Cole, a TCU alumnus, when Cole won the first four holes of the inward nine to erase a four-hole deficit. On the outward nine, Garrick had won four holes, one with a birdie, to make the turn with an impressive 4-up lead. Cole began the back nine with birdies at the 10th and 11th holes to cut the deficit in half. His par at the 12th won the hole when Garrick double-bogeyed, and he squared the match with another birdie at the 13th. The next two holes were halved, but Cole’s par at the 16th gave him his first lead of the match. It stood up as the final two holes were halved.
