LOS ANGELES (AP) - Dan Grunfeld scored 25 points and Stanford defeated UCLA 75-64 Thursday night, giving the Cardinal its eighth consecutive victory at Pauley Pavilion - the most by an opponent since the building opened 40 years ago.

Stanford (9-7, 3-3 Pac-10) also won its fifth in a row over the Bruins. Last season, the Cardinal clinched its fourth conference title in six years by winning at Pauley.

The Bruins (10-5, 4-3) haven't beaten the Cardinal at home since 1997 and they lost their second in a row.

UCLA got no closer than six points in the second half, the last time when freshman Jordan Farmar scored to make it 50-44 with 9 minutes remaining. Grunfeld hit a 3-pointer and the Cardinal outscored UCLA 6-2 to push its lead back to double digits.

Grunfeld, the son of Washington Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld, has improved his scoring average by 14.7 points from last season - the best by a Division I player this season. He missed tying his career high by four points.

Matt Haryasz added 14 points, Nick Robinson had 13 and Rob Little 12 for Stanford.

Center Michael Fey led the Bruins with 17 points and 11 rebounds in his best offensive performance of the season.

UCLA needed him because leading scorer Dijon Thompson had his worst. He was scoreless in the first half and finished with six points on 3-for-11 shooting - the only time he hasn't reached double figures this season. Thompson also committed six turnovers.

The Bruins had scored 80 or more points in three of their previous four games, but never came close against Stanford's defense that held them to 40 percent field-goal shooting.
