SEATTLE, Wash. - Freshman Katie Camp led the ninth-ranked Bruins with 13 kills, but three long Washington runs in the second, third and fourth sets propelled the fifth-ranked Huskies to victory on Sunday at Bank of America Arena. Scores were 25-17, 19-25, 18-25, 22-25.

The Bruins fall to 16-8 overall and 6-7 in Pac-10 play, while the Huskies improve to 19-4 and 10-3 in league action.

Sophomore Dicey McGraw added 10 kills, freshman Sara Sage had eight kills and senior Ali Daley posted seven. Senior Nellie Spicer had 46 assists, six kills and seven digs, while freshman Amanda Gil added six kills and six blocks. Senior Jessica Fine recorded 22 digs, while sophomore Jazmin Machado and freshman Lainey Gera each had 11 digs. The Bruins hit .214 as a team.

UCLA never trailed in the first set, scoring five of the first seven points to jump out to an early lead. Tied at two, the Bruins got a kill and a block by Gil on successive points, followed by a Gil/Daley block to make it 5-2. Washington got no closer than two for the rest of the set. With a 7-5 lead, the Bruins scored five of the next six to go up 12-6. Gil, Spicer, McGraw and Camp all had kills during the run.

The Bruins still maintained a 14-10 advantage, but an 8-2 spurt gave them their first double-digit lead at 22-12. Camp opened the run with a kill, which was followed by a Gil block and a Spicer kill. UCLA also received a kill by Daley and an ace by Gil, benefitting from three Washington attack errors. Daley recorded the set-clinching kill to give the Bruins a 25-17 victory. Daley had five kills in the opener, while McGraw and Spicer had three each. The Bruins out-hit the Huskies .204 to .067.

The Bruins led for the early part of the second set, but a long run midway through allowed the Huskies to tie the match at one set apiece. Tied at five, UCLA netted four in a row on a Sage kill, a Washington attack error, a kill by Camp and a combo block by Camp and Sage. Leading 11-10, the Bruins received back-to-back kills by Camp, but the Huskies went on their run to pull away.

Washington scored eight straight points to go up 18-13. UCLA came back with two of the next three to make it 19-15, but another 4-0 spurt by the Huskies gave them a set-high lead of eight at 23-15. The Bruins scored four of the next five points to get to within five at 24-19, but Bianca Rowland won the set for Washington on a kill to post the 25-19 win. The Huskies out-hit the Bruins .189 to .167. Camp had four kills in the second, while McGraw added three.

The Huskies jumped out to early leads of 3-0 and 6-3 in the third, but the Bruins scored five in a row to take an 8-6 advantage. Sage began the run with a kill, followed by a Sage/Camp block. Sophomore Juliane Piggott then had a kill, Camp had one and Piggott added another to put the Bruins up by two. The Bruins still led 11-9, but another long run by the Huskies gave them command of the third set. Washington went on a 9-0 run to take an 18-11 advantage. The Huskies had a set-high eight-point lead on four occasions before finally posting the 25-18 victory. The Huskies out-hit the Bruins .326 to .282 in the third set. UCLA was paced by Camp and Piggott, who had three kills each.

The Bruins scored five of the first six points of the fourth set thanks to the play of Camp and Piggott. Camp posted two kills, while Piggott had two kills and a block to give UCLA a 5-1 lead. The Bruins maintained a four-point lead at 12-8, but the Huskies came back with six of the next eight to even the set at 14. A Spicer kill and a Gil/Spicer block put UCLA back up by two at 16-14, but yet another Washington run gave them the match. The Huskies scored six in a row to take a 20-16 lead. The Bruins closed to within two on three occasions, but a Becky Perry kill gave the Huskies the 25-22 victory. Camp had four kills in the fourth, while Sage posted three. Washington out-hit UCLA .241 to .200.

Airial Salvo had 14 kills to pace the Huskies, while Perry and Jill Collymore added 13 apiece. Jenna Hagglund posted 44 assists and 12 digs, while Tamari Miyashiro recorded 26 digs, as Washington hit .201 for the match.
