The third-ranked UCLA women’s water polo team ran its record to 8-0 after sweeping two more matches at the UCSB Winter Invitational Sunday.
On the final day of competition, the Bruins defeated host UC Santa Barbara 14-6 in a noon game, and then beat Pacific 11-7 in a mid-afternnon contest.
A nine-goal, first quarter outburst gave the Bruins the winning margin against the Gauchos. By halftime it was 12-4.
UCLA led Pacific 6-0 at halftime in the second game to give itself a comfortable cushion. Becca Dorst, Victoria Kent and Alys Williams each recorded a pair of goals. Goalkeeper Sami Hill made eight saves and backup Alex Musselman added nine.
Next weekend the Bruins will travel to the Bay Area for the Stanford Invitational.
