MINNEAPOLIS - Freshman Madison White set a UCLA record in the 200 Backstroke, while the 400 Freestyle Relay team broke the school record in the Saturday preliminaries and then broke it again in the final swim of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

The morning session began with the 200 Back, as White snapped the 2009 record swim of Madeleine Stanton (1:54.87) with a time of 1:53.49. Her place was 14th in the morning and she improved to 13th in the evening race (1:54.24). In the 100 Freestyle, freshman Linnea Mack had a 49.38, which was 45th.

A pair of Bruins took part in the 200 Butterfly. Junior Noelle Tarazona qualified for the evening finals, finishing 10th in the morning with a 1:55.03. Senior Ting Quah was 21st in the prelims with a 1:56.73, the sixth-fastest time in UCLA history.

Tarazona swam even faster in the evening with a 1:54.88 to place 11th overall.

In the prelims of the 400 Free Relay, the quartet of senior Kathryn Murphy, Mack, Quah and senior Anna Senko swam a 3:16.84, breaking the school record set earlier this season. The 16th-place finish qualified the Bruin foursome for the evening finals.

The evening session opened with the 1650 Free, as senior Lauren Baker was 13th (16:06.08) and sophomore Katy Campbell 19th (16:10.73).

In the Bruins’ final swim of the meet, the 400 Free Relay broke the school record set just a few hours prior, with Murphy, Mack, Quah and Senko going 3:16.18 to finish 15th.

In all, the Bruins set five school records at the NCAA Championships in the 500 Freestyle (Baker), 200 Free Relay (Murphy, Quah, sophomore Katie Kinnear, Mack), 100 Butterfly (Quah), 200 Back (White) and 400 Free Relay (Murphy, Mack, Quah, Senko). As a team, UCLA was 21st with 38 points.
