LOS ANGELES, CA -- UCLA freshman Bronte Law will compete for Great Britain and Ireland in the 2014 Curtis Cup. The Ladies Golf Union named its eight-player team on Tuesday for the Curtis Cup, which will be played June 6-8 at the St. Louis Country Club.

Law, 19, joins UCLA teammates Alison Lee and Erynne Lee, who will both compete for the United States in the Curtis Cup. UCLA’s three Curtis Cup players represent the most in the country from one institution.

Law, who recorded a 1-1-1 record for the victorious 2012 GB&I Curtis Cup team, joins Alabama senior Stephanie Meadow as one of two holdovers from the previous GB&I squad. In 2012, Meadow recorded the deciding point to lift GB&I to its 10.5-9.5 victory.

Ranked 46th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and 26th in the U.S. collegiate polls, Law won the Pac-12 Preview individual title in November. In 30 rounds this season, she has a scoring average of 72.9 with seven rounds under par.

Bronte Law is one of the fiercest competitors on our team,” said UCLA Head Coach Carrie Forsyth. “It is no surprise that she has earned a spot on the GB&I team for the second time. She will be one of the leaders on that squad, and will help her team provide a great competition in the match.”

Six new players will compete on the British team, which for the first time selected its squad primarily from the Women’s Golf Amateur Rankings.

“I am thrilled and excited with this team and genuinely believe it has the perfect mix to retain the Curtis Cup,” GB&I captain Tegwen Matthews said in a statement through the USGA. “Each and every member of this team has fought hard for [her] place and I know they all have the desire, talent and passion to bring the cup back home.”

The six other members of the GB&I team are:
Eilidh Briggs, 21, Scotland, world ranking: 126
Gabriella Cowley, 18, England, world ranking: 84
Annabel Dimmock, 17, England, world ranking: 28
Gemma Dryburgh, 20, Scotland, world ranking: 52
Georgia Hall, 18, England, world ranking: 7
Charlotte Thomas, 21, Singapore, world ranking: 60
