Add to the group of teams tied with UCLA at 578 (+2) Texas Christian and Georgia Southern. Georgia remained in first place at 566 (-10), followed by Vanderbilt at 568 (-8). The Commodores blistered the course with a 15-under par team score of 273 to surge into the runner-up spot and give the top-seeded Bulldogs a challenge in the final round. Georgia State was fourth at 577 (+1).
The top five teams after tomorrow’s final round will advance to the NCAA Championship at Prarie Dunes in Hutchinson, Kan., May 26-30.
Individually for the Bruins, junior Matt Pinizzotto had the team’s best score, a two-under par 70. He was tied for 32nd place at 146 (+2). Sophomores Jonathan Garrick and Lorens Chan continued to lead the Bruins on the leader board. Garrick was tied for 13th at one-under par 143 following a second round score of 73 (+1), and Chan was tied for 18th at even par 144 following a second straight round of even par 72. Senior Anton Arboleda and junior Preston Valder were tied for 45th place at 148 (+4). Arboleda recorded a 73 (+1) and Valder had the drop score of 75 (+3).
First place belonged to TCU’s Julien Brun, who fired a second straight 67 (-5) and held a four-shot lead at 10-under par 134.
