EUGENE, Ore. – UCLA junior Kylie Price equaled her season best to place third overall in the long jump on day one of the NCAA Championships at historic Hayward Field.
On her first jump in the finals Price leaped 21-1.25 to move up six spots after barely qualifying for the final nine. The jump equaled her season best and marked the second meet this season that she had jumped over 21 feet. The third place finish at the NCAA Championship was a career-best for Price.
In the shot put Nicholas Scarvelis just missed the final nine by placing 10th overall. The sophomore finished with a throw of 63-2.75.
Sophomore Nick Hartle capped off his season by finishing 16th in the 800m with a time of 1:49.83. Hartle finished seventh in his heat in his first ever NCAA Championship appearance.
UCLA will continue competition on the second day of the championship. Junior Alexis Walker will get Thursday started in the heptathlon at 1 p.m. PT. Junior Brea Buchanan and sophomore Trinity Wilson will compete in the 100m hurdle semifinals at 5:20 p.m. PT.
