BRUINS HIT THE ROAD TO BATTLE NEBRASKA
UCLA (1-0, ranked #16 in the Associated Press and 17th in the USA Today Coaches Poll) will travel to #23/15-ranked Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 14. The game will kickoff at 9 a.m. PT (11 a.m. CT) and be televised by ABC (Sean McDonough, Chris Spielman, Shannon Spake).The Bruin IMG Radio Network (Chris Roberts, Matt Stevens and Wayne Cook) will air the Nebraska contest on AM570 Fox Sports LA. The game will also be aired on SIRIUS (Ch. 91), XM (Ch. 91).

BRUINS VS. NEBRASKA
The Cornhuskers lead the series, which dates back to 1946, by a 6-5 margin. UCLA captured last season’s contest played in the Rose Bowl, 36-30. Nebraska won the last meeting played in Lincoln, NE by a score of 49-21 over the Wayne Cook-quarterbacked Bruins in 1994. Nebraska has been ranked either first or second in the nation in six of the previous meetings. One of UCLA’s biggest wins ever came almost exactly 41 years ago over a number-one ranked Cornhusker team.The 1972 Bruin team, using a wishbone attack under the direction of first-year starter Mark Harmon, which had finished the previous season with two wins, snapped the 32-game unbeaten streak of the Huskers who had captured National Championships in 1970 and 1971. A field goal by Efren Herrera in the game’s final seconds sent UCLA to a 20-17 win in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

BRUINS IN BRIEF
UCLA opened the 2013 season on August 31 in the Rose Bowl with a 58-20 win over Nevada. The Bruins outscored the Wolf Pack 41-7 in the second half of action and racked up a total of 647 yards of total offense, the ninth-highest single-game total in school history. Quarterback Brett Hundley accounted for four scores on the night, two rushing and two touchdown passes. He threw for 274 yards in the contest and rushed seven times for 63 yards. Redshirt junior running back Jordon James ran for 155 yards on 21 carries. **Senior LB Anthony Barr who had 2 TFLs v. Nevada; has the most sacks of any returning player in the country (13.5) **Junior LB Eric Kendricks led the team with 11 tackles vs. Nevada, his eighth-straight game in double digit tackles; His 150 tackles in 2012 were the most by a Bruin since 1978 (Jerry Robinson 168 in 1978) **UCLA played 15 true freshmen in the 2013 opener (and 8 redshirt freshmen); It played 26 total freshmen in 2012 -- 12 true and 14 redshirt freshmen -- A year ago, UCLA played eight true freshmen in the opener at Rice. **Redshirt soph. QB Brett Hundley racked up 337 yards of total offense and accounted for four scores v. Nevada (2 runs, 2 TD passes). He completed 12 of 16 passes in the second half. Last year, he had 358 total yards (305 in air) v. MID-WEEK GAMES
UCLA will play this season at Utah on a Thursday night and at home versus Washington on a Friday night. Last season, UCLA opened the season with a win at Rice on a Thursday evening. In 2011, it played at Arizona on a Thursday evening. In the 2010 season, the Bruins played three non-Saturday games - Oct. 21 at Oregon (Th.), Nov. 18 at Washington (Th.) and (Fri.) Nov. 26 at Arizona State. Prior to 2010, the last time the Bruins played a regular-season non-Saturday game was Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at Arizona State, dropping a 34-9 decision. The Bruins also played a Monday night game that year, defeating Tennessee, 27-24 in overtime on Labor Day night (Aug. 30). Before 2008, UCLA had not played on a week night since Thurs., Sept. 30, 1993, a 52-13 victory at San Diego State. The Bruins also played at San Diego State on Thurs., Sept. 26, 1991 (won, 37-12). The most recent regular season home game played on a Friday was against Arizona on Oct. 27, 1978.

WORKING OVERTIME
