Samantha Peszek to be Inducted into USAG Hall of Fame

April 26, 2013

UCLA junior Samantha Peszek will be inducted into the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame Class of 2013 as a member of the 2007 Women's World Championships Team. Peszek and her teammates captured the USA's second-ever World team gold medal and the first-ever outside the United States.

Peszek is the third UCLA woman to be inducted, joining 2011 honoree Kristen Maloney and multiple honoree (2012 individual, 2008 team) Tasha Schwikert.

Peszek has enjoyed a very successful elite and collegiate gymnastics career. She was a member of the U.S. team that captured a team silver medal at the 2008 Olympic Games and won gold medals at the 2007 World Championships and Pan American Games. A member of the USA National Team from 2004-09, Peszek was the national runner-up on beam in 2009 and finished fourth in the all-around at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials.

At UCLA, Peszek won the NCAA balance beam title and made history doing so, becoming the first collegiate gymnast to compete a standing full on beam. She is a four-time All-American and two-time Scholastic All-American.

Joining Peszek are her 2007 teammates Ivana Hong, Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Alicia Sacramone, Shayla Worley and alternate Bridget Sloan. Also earning Hall of Fame induction are the 2012 U.S. Women's Gymnastics Olympic Team and the 2007 Women's Tumbling World Championships Team. The 2013 Hall of Fame class will be inducted formally during U.S. Championships festivities Aug. 15-18 in Hartford, Conn.
