UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field announced the signing of Mikaela Gerber to a national letter-of-intent. Gerber, a 2011 World Championships competitor for Canada, hails from Cambridge, Ontario (Oakville Gymnastics) and is the younger sister of Bruin All-American Aisha Gerber.

Mikaela Gerber was a key member of the Canadian team that placed 11th at the 2011 World Championships and was a two-time silver medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games, capturing second place on floor and in the team competition. In 2012, she placed 12th in the all-around, fourth on beam and eighth on vault at the Canadian Championships and was fifth on bars, fourth on floor and seventh in the all-around at Elite Canada. She won the floor exercise title at the 2010 Elite Canada and was fifth in the all-around and on bars and beam. At the junior level, she was a silver all-around medalist at the 2010 and 2009 Canadian Championships.

"We are excited to add Mikaela Gerber to our team this next season," said Kondos Field. "Mikaela brings the same level of powerful gymnastics and artistry that her sister Aisha did, only with a style uniquely her own."

Gerber will join previously-signed Angela Cipra and Hallie Mossett as freshmen for the 2014 season.
