Urbana, Ill. - The UCLA tennis teams will both be in action this afternoon in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships at the University of Illinois. The top-ranked men's team faces No. 5 Ohio State at 1:00 p.m. (CST), followed by the No. 7 Bruin women against No. 3 Texas A&M at 5:00 p.m. (CST).
The UCLA men's team advanced to Monday's semifinals following a 4-0 victory over No. 9 Duke on Saturday. In fact, the Bruins have yet to drop a match in this year's NCAA Tournament, winning all four of its matches 4-0. The UCLA-Ohio State showdown is a rematch of last year's NCAA Quarterfinals, where UCLA won 4-2 in Athens, Ga. In the other half of the draw, second-ranked Virginia is taking on No. 3 Georgia, also at 1:00 p.m.
The Bruin women, who have advanced to the semifinals for the third year in a row, take on the third-ranked Aggies, who are making their first-ever appearance in the semifinals. UCLA pulled off the biggest upset of the NCAA Tournament thus far on Sunday afternoon, knocking off No. 2 North Carolina, 4-1. The Bruins lost the doubles point before winning four-straight singles matches. Two-time defending NCAA Champion and top-seeded Florida faces No. 12 Stanford in the other half of the draw.
