Laguna Niguel, Calif. - UCLA junior men's tennis player Marcos Giron continued his hot streak on the ITF Circuit last week, claiming the singles title at the Laguna Niguel USTA Pro Futures event at the Laguna Niguel Racquet Club. It marked the second singles title for Giron at a Futures event in less than a month, as he also won USTA Claremont Club Classic in mid-September.

The unseeded Giron won five matches in Laguna Niguel, four of which were in straight sets. He didn't lose a set until the final, where he met fourth-seeded Jarmere Jenkins, the reigning NCAA singles and doubles champion from Virginia. After losing the first set, Giron lost just two games in the remaining two sets, storming back for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory.

In addition to his two singles titles, Giron teamed with freshman Mackenzie McDonald to win the doubles title at the Costa Mesa Pro Tennis Classic on Sept. 22.

Giron, who is competing for UCLA at the ITA All-American Championships this week in Tulsa, Okla., is currently listed at No. 706 in singles in the ATP Tour computer rankings.
