Four UCLA Tennis Players Earn All-America Status

LOS ANGELES - A total of four UCLA tennis players recently earned the highest honor in collegiate tennis, as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released a list of 86 players (45 men and 41 women) who achieved All-America status for 2013.

On the women's side, sophomore Robin Anderson was the only UCLA player to earn All-America honors in both singles and doubles. She was seeded No. 3 in the NCAA singles draw, where she reached the round of 16. She also ended the year ranked No. 4 nationally in singles. In doubles, she and partner Skylar Morton reached the final of the NCAA doubles draw where they fell to USC's Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria, 6-4, 6-3. Anderson and Morton ended the year ranked No. 8 in the ITA doubles rankings. As a result of reaching the NCAA final and a top 10 doubles rankings, Morton was also named an All-American in doubles.

Freshman Kyle McPhillips was also named an All-American in singles by finishing the year ranked in the top 20 (No. 17) of the ITA rankings.

The UCLA women were one of just four teams in the country to place three players on the 2013 All-America team, joining Georgia, Stanford and USC.

On the men's side, sophomore Marcos Giron was the lone All-American for UCLA, as he was listed at No. 13 in the final ITA singles rankings.

The following criteria is used to determine All-America honors:

Singles
Top 16 seed in NCAA Singles Championship
Reach round of 16 in NCAA Singles Championship
Finish in the Top 20 of final ITA National Singles Rankings

Doubles
Top eight seed in NCAA Doubles Championship
Reach quarterfinals in NCAA Doubles Championship
Finish in the Top 10 of final ITA National Doubles Rankings
