Brady Reaches Semifinals in Both Singles and Doubles at ITA Regionals

San Diego, Calif. - Playing in her first USTA/ITA Southwest Regionals, UCLA freshman Jennifer Brady has advanced to the semifinals of both singles and doubles at in San Diego. She is joined in the singles semifinals by Bruin junior Chanelle Van Nguyen, who was also victorious on Saturday.

Brady, the 13th-seed in the women's singles draw, took on another freshman in Saturday's quarterfinals, downing USC's Zoe Katz, 6-1, 6-1. She will meet Pepperdine's Lorraine Guillermo on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with the winner of that match moving on to Monday's final.

Van Nguyen, the No. 9 seed, upset top-seeded Sabrina Santamaria of USC in Saturday's quarterfinals. After losing the first set 6-2, Van Nguyen rallied to take the second set 7-5. It was at that point that Santamaria retired due to injury, advancing Van Nguyen into the semifinals. Van Nguyen will meet USC's Brynn Boren in Sunday's semifinals, also at 10:30 a.m.

In doubles, Brady and teammate Catherine Harrison advanced to the semifinals following an 8-3 victory over UC Irvine's Sarah Gong and Marivick Mamitt. The Bruin duo will take on USC's top-seeded Kaitlin Christian and Santamaria at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
