UCLA small forward Shabazz Muhammad was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 14th pick of the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft Thursday in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center.
Muhammad, the 34th first-round pick in UCLA history, was then traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The native of Las Vegas is the first UCLA opening-round selection since Jrue Holiday was taken with the 17th overall pick by Philadelphia and Darren Collison with the 21st pick by New Orleans in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Muhammad represents the 109th UCLA player selected in the history of the NBA draft (dating back to 1948).
In 2012-13, UCLA finished with a 25-10 overall record and won the Pac-12 Conference regular-season title (13-5) and finished second to Oregon in the conference tournament. The Bruins lost to Minnesota in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
