Wooden Athletic Fund Announces 2014 Campaign
By: UCLA Athletics
Following a second consecutive record-breaking year in total members and total dollars raised in 2013, the UCLA Athletic Department is preparing to launch its 2014 Wooden Athletic Fund annual fund campaign. The Wooden Athletic Fund, the general fund to support UCLA Athletics, now boasts more than 5,300 total members, and more than $11.6 million dollars were raised this year for student-athlete scholarship support and resources.

Also continuing is the Wooden Athletic Fund’s “8CLAP8K” initiative. Announced in September, the “8CLAP8K” initiative has a goal of increasing members of the Wooden Athletic Fund to 8,000 from the 5,313 at the outset of the campaign. As progress is made, it will be measured by “clapping” for each 1,000 donors who join, leading up to the goal of 8,000 donors, or, a UCLA 8-Clap. Throughout the “8CLAP8K” campaign, special incentives will be offered to new members and to current WAF members who refer friends to join. You can track our progress or join at

The annual Wooden Athletic Fund membership guide and renewal packages will be sent over the course of the next few weeks to current donors who have completed their 2013 gifts. The packet will provide an in-depth look into all participation opportunities within UCLA Athletics and the interactive online version of the guide is available now by clicking HERE. The early start to this year’s campaign is designed to provide donors with the greatest possible flexibility to utilize the tax-deductibility of their donation. The deadline for renewal remains June 30.

"2013 has been another fantastic year for UCLA Athletics and Bruin student-athletes have continued to achieve championship performance in competition, in the classroom and in the community," said Josh Rebholz, Associate Athletics Director of Development. "Now more than ever, the generous support of Wooden Athletic Fund donors plays an absolutely critical role in UCLA student-athletes’ and coaches’ ability for success. We simply can’t thank these passionate donors enough for their generosity. As we build for the future, we are asking these donors as well as all alumni and fans to become champions alongside UCLA Athletics by elevating their support of these student-athletes and providing them more of the resources they need to compete amongst the nation's elite."

All 2013 Wooden Athletic Fund donors will receive a renewal form that will detail the option of renewing at their current level (minimum required donation amounts for football and/or men's basketball priority seating remain unchanged from 2013), or their "Become a Champion" amount. Entering its second year, the "Become a Champion" campaign encourages all current Wooden Athletic Fund donors to increase at least one giving level from what they donated in 2013. Additionally, all UCLA alumni, fans and friends who are not yet members are encouraged to join the Wooden Athletic Fund at the minimum $100 dollar level and all current WAF donors are encouraged to refer a new member to the Wooden Athletic Fund in 2014.

Anyone who participates in any of these three ways will automatically qualify to "Become a Champion" and will receive an exclusive Wooden Athletic Fund adidas hat.

To be eligible for 2014 WAF membership benefits, including priority parking and priority seating, donations must be received in full prior to June 30, 2014. Automatic pre-approved payment plans are available upon request.

Donors are strongly encouraged to renew their membership online. To renew online, donors should visit and click "Renew Membership" under the "Donate Now" tab. Donors will need the 10-digit User Identification Number listed under their name on the Statement of Support.

Any donors wishing to contribute specifically to individual sports will once again have the option to do so through program-specific giving clubs, which can be found HERE. Please remember that donations made directly to individual sports do not count towards priority seating requirements.
