UCLA Cross Country Finishes Seventh at Pac-12 Championships

LOUISVILLE, Colo. – The UCLA men’s and women’s cross country teams both finished seventh in the Pac-12 Championships, Saturday morning from the Coal Creek Golf Course.

The Bruin women finished with 173 points as Arizona claimed top honors with 69. Kelsey Smith paced UCLA, cracking the top-10 with a seventh place finish. The junior crossed the line in the 6k event in 21:27.

Annie Mooney was the next Bruin to finish with a 22:19 in 18th place. Sierra Vega crossed the line in 45th with a 23:13 while Meghan Marvin closely followed in 53rd in 23:27.

Ashlee Powers was 60th with a time of 23:45 while Annabel Clarke and Paige Tennison rounded out the UCLA top-seven with a 77th (24:16) and 79th (24:27) finish, respectively.

Also competing for the Bruins were Elle Sanders (86th, 24:59), Bronte Golick (87th, 24:59) and Jen Owen (93rd, 25:48).

In the men’s 8k event, Colorado claimed the team title with 28 points while UCLA finished with 152. Nick Hartle paced the Bruins with a 14th place finish, crossing the line in 25:33.

Daniel Herrera finished 23rd with a 25:54 and Ferdinand Edman followed in 36th with a 26:14. A pack of Bruins then crossed the line as Nohe Lema finished 40th in 26:19, Patrick Douglas placed 41st in 26:20 and Zack Torres was in 44th with a 26:21. Sergey Sushchikh rounded out the top-seven in 50th with a 26:35.

Also competing for the Bruins was Daniel De La Torre (58th, 27:01), Jacob Wood (61st, 27:11) and Jonah Diaz (67th, 27:34).

The Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks on a tape-delayed basis. The first airing is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. PT. Dwight Stones will serve as the analyst, while Jim Watson will provide play-by-play. Check local listing for channel and additional air times.

The NCAA Regional Championships will be Friday, Nov. 15. The West Regional (hosted by Sacramento State University) will be held in Sacramento, Calif. The NCAA National Championships are being held in Terre Haute, Ind. (hosted by Indiana State University) on Saturday, Nov. 23.
