Bruin Dan Ames Second In Men's Hammer

In first day results of the second annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee T & F Invitational held at UCLA's Drake Stadium, the men and women's invitational hammer throws were the only events of the day.

In the men's event, UCLA senior Dan Ames placed second overall (first collegian) and his 199-11 matched his season-best and is also an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark. Bruin sophomore Jake Knight was eighth (178-4) and UCLA redshirt freshman Brian Ruziecki placed ninth (170-2). The winner of the men's hammer was Adam Midles (unattached), 206-6.

The Rafer Johnson/JJK Invite continues on Friday and Saturday at Drake Stadium. On Friday, collegiate open events begin at 10 a.m. (field events) and 12:30 p.m. (running events). On Saturday, invitational events begin at 9:15 a.m. (field events) and 12:15 p.m. (running events).
