Brian Perk To Play With U-20s At Busan International Tournament
By: UCLA Athletics

Aug. 23, 2006

UCLA freshman goalkeeper Brian Perk has been named to the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team roster for the Busan International U-20 Four Nations Tournament. The tournament will take place Aug. 29-Sept. 2 in Busan, South Korea.

The roster consists of 10 professional, one collegiate and seven high school players. Perk, the only college player on the roster, will be making his U-20 debut. He has five caps with the U-18 National Team and 12 with the U-17 National Team.

"It's always an honor for players to represent their country," said UCLA head coach and former U.S. National Team player Jorge Salcedo. "Although this is a crucial time of the year for us, I felt like it was an opportunity that Brian Perk had to take. His preseason training here will hopefully prepare him for the competition he'll encounter in Korea, and his experience over there will benefit our group here in the long run."

The U.S. will travel to Busan on Friday, Aug. 25 and have three days of training before kicking off the four-team tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 29 against the host. The U.S. will then face Slovakia on Thursday, Aug. 31 before finishing round-robin play on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Argentina. All six games of the tournament will be played at Busan Asiad Main Stadium, a 2002 World Cup venue.
