UCLA head women's basketball coach Kathy Olivier announced today the signing of local standouts Tierra Henderson of Pasadena, CA Muir High School and Chinyere Ibekwe of Carson, CA High School to national letters-of-intent. The pair will enter UCLA in the fall of 2005 as freshmen and become members of the 2005-06 Bruin team.

Henderson, a 5-10 forward/guard, averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game last season for the Mustangs. She had nine 20-point games, including a high game of 31 points against Corona Del Mar. She was named to the first team of the CIF III-A and All-Pacific League following her senior season in 2004-05. Henderson, who led the Mustangs to the Pacific League championship with a 10-0 record, ranked 13th in the Southern Section in steals with 139 and 36th in scoring with 466 points.

Ibekwe, a 6-4 post player, averaged 23.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 3.7 blocked shots per game last season for the Colts, the seventh-ranked team in L.A. City. She had 11 20-point games last season, including a high game of 30 points in a win over Banning. Ibekwe ranked fifth in LA City in points (348) and blocked shots (56). She was 13th in rebounds with 193, including 96 offensive boards.

The two signees join Ashlee Trebilcock, a 5-9 guard who was recently named second-team Parade Magazine High School America. Trebilcock, who signed during the early period with Bruins in November of 2004, averaged 22.1 points, 3.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds in her senior season. She averaged 21.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and handed out 94 assists during her junior season for the Indians.

"With the signing of Ashlee, Chinyere and Tierra we have continued to be successful in our quest to keep the best players in Southern California here at home and added significantly to our team depth," said Olivier.

"Each student-athlete brings a great deal of talent, experience and promise to the table. Each comes from a winning program and brings a number of positive intangibles to our team in addition to her outstanding playing ability. This class has a great combination of shooting, size and quickness. We have now put together our fourth straight top-level recruiting class, which makes me very excited about the future of UCLA Basketball. Ashlee, Chinyere and Tierra will each add a great deal more to that excitement."
