Four Bruins Earn Academic Acclaim By Pac-10 Conference

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Four UCLA men's soccer players earned Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the 2001 season, including first-team selections Nelson Akwari and Dru Hoshimiya.

Akwari, a sophomore defender who was a second-team All-Pac-10 and All-Far West selection, earned a 3.23 GPA in Pre-Business Economics. Redshirt sophomore midfielder Hoshimiya, an honorable mention all-conference pick, recorded a 3.37 GPA in English.

Two others made the second-team - sophomore forward John Carson (3.26 GPA, undeclared) and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Zach Wells (3.15, American Literature & Culture).
