Bruins to Face Top-Seeded North Carolina in NCAA College Cup . . .
Fourth-seeded UCLA will get a chance to avenge its only loss of the season this Friday when the Bruins meet No. 1 North Carolina in the NCAA College Cup Semifinals in Cary, N.C. UCLA (20-1-3) and UNC (25-0) met back on Sept. 19 at the Duke/adidas Classic, with the Tar Heels registering a 5-2 victory. Friday's match will be a re-match of the 2000 NCAA Final, a game won by North Carolina, 2-1. The UCLA/UNC match will kickoff at approximately 2:30 p.m. (EST). The first semifinal Friday will feature UConn (14-5-3) vs. No. 11 Florida State (17-7-1) at Noon.

Bruins Yet to Give up a Goal in NCAA Play . . .
UCLA has yet to give up a goal in the first four rounds of the NCAA Tournament, outscoring its opponents 9-0. Against San Diego in the opening round on Nov. 14, Lindsay Greco and Bristyn Davis each scored in the 2-0 victory. In the second round on Nov. 16, the Bruins scored twice in the second half following goals by Iris Mora and Greco for another 2-0 decision. Sarah-Gayle Swanson registered the only goal in a 1-0 victory over No. 13 Kansas on Nov. 21. Four Bruins scored against Penn State last week, as Mora, Greco, Davis and Kim Devine helped UCLA to a 4-0 win. The Bruins have outshot the opposition 77-10 during NCAA play.

2003 Bruins Tie Two School Records . . .
With its 4-0 decision over Penn State last Friday, UCLA tied single-season school records for shutouts (15) and victories (20). The 2000 Bruins had 15 shutouts, reaching the NCAA Final that year. The 2001 squad finished 20-3 after advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals. A victory over UNC on Friday and the 2003 Bruins will own both records.

The Series vs. North Carolina . . .
Sarah-Gayle Swanson and Whitney Jones scored both UCLA goals in a 5-2 loss to UNC back on Sept. 19. The Bruins outshot the Tar Heels, 16-11 in that match. UCLA has dropped all four previous meetings in the series dating back to 1996. Friday will mark the second meeting in NCAA Tournament play, as UNC came from behind to defeat UCLA, 2-1 in the 2000 NCAA Final.

Last NCAA Semifinal Appearance . . .
UCLA defeated Portland, 1-0 in its only other appearance in the NCAA College Cup Semifinals back in 2000. Current volunteer assistant coach Stephanie Rigamat scored the game-winning goal in that match on a header in the 77th minute, sending UCLA to the championship match.

Lance Armstrong Calls to Wish Bruins Luck . . .
The Bruins received a special message before their quarterfinal match against Penn State last Friday, as five-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong called to wish the team luck against the Nittany Lions. UCLA has adopted Armstrong's story for inspiration this year, with players earning yellow jerseys for top performances in practice. Armstrong got word of this and left a message on assistant coach Mark Carr's voice mail. The message was played for the team prior to the match.

Bruins in the National Statistics . . .
Freshman goalkeeper Arianna Criscione ranks ninth nationally with an 0.53 goals against average. With 14 assists in 24 matches, Bruin forward Iris Mora checks in at 15th nationally in assists per game (0.58). As a team, the Bruins rank second in winning percentage (.896), eighth in shutout percentage (0.63), 11th in goals against average (0.64) and 21st in scoring offense (2.38 GPG).
