Saratoga High School's Matt Marshall has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UCLA this Fall, the athletic department has announced. Marshall, 19, was a two-time team MVP and All-Santa Clara Valley League selection at Saratoga HS, where he averaged 71.2 strokes per round in 2004. As a freshman at Saratoga, he reached the Central Coast Section finals and placed third in 2003. "We're delighted that Matt has chosen to attend UCLA this fall," said UCLA Head Coach O.D. Vincent. "I have had the pleasure of knowing Matt since he was very young. He is a solid student, a talented golfer and a fine young man." On the IJGT junior golf circuit, Marshall recorded three Top 5 finishes in five events last year, including a victory at Barton Creek in Austin, TX. He also placed second at the IJGT tournament at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, AZ and tied for second at the Bayonet & Black Horse courses at Ford Ord, CA. On the AJGA circuit, he recorded four Top 15 finishes in five events, including a fourth at Sunriver, OR and a tie for sixth at the Monterey Junior Open Invitational. Marshall's signing completes a fivesome of players the Bruins have signed for this fall. They other four players are Kevin Chappell, Brandon Christianson, Daniel Im and Craig Leslie.
