Bruins Take Home Second At Kia Baseball Bash:
After crushing defending national champion Texas, 13-2 and 21st-ranked Tulane, 12-2, the Bruins fell short of capturing the Kia Baseball Bash title with 7-1 loss at the hands of second-ranked Cal State Fullerton.

Wes Whisler, who was the only player in the tournament with two home runs took home Co-Outstanding Player of the Week honors after hitting .417 with four RBI and five runs scored over the weekend.

Mike Kunes picked up his third win of the season after lasting seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits to the sixth-ranked Longhorns. He also struck out five batters on the day.

Casey Janssen also earned his third win with the Bruins 12-2 victory over Tulane. He only allowed two runs on five hits in six innings of work.

Along with Whisler, Chris Denove and Hector Ambriz were instrumental in leading the Bruins to post 26 runs over the three games. Denove recorded six hits, including one home run, five RBI and four runs for UCLA. Ambriz hit .500 with five hits and two RBI in his two starts over the weekend.

About Loyola Marymount...

The Lions enter the week with a 8-5 record and on a three-game winning streak after sweeping San Jose State this weekend. After losing its first four contests of 2003, LMU rattled off five consecutive wins, including two victories over Pac-10 foe Washington.

Head Coach Frank Cruz is in his 7th year as the head coach of the Lions. He is 179-185-1 in his tenure at LMU. The Bruins currently lead the series with the Lions 30-29, with UCLA winning both meetings in 2002.
