Oct. 25, 2004

All five UCLA players were among the Top 20 individuals after the first round at the Pac-10/Big Challenge, hosted by the University of Oregon at Bandon Dunes GC in Bandon, OR.

In a steady rain, the Bruins posted a team score of 291 and led Arizona State by five shots. USC and Northwestern were tied for third place at 298, followed by Washington at 301.

The second round was postponed due to heavy rain. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes to be completed tomorrow. Several teams had begun the final round on Monday afternoon.

Individually for UCLA, senior John Poucher was tied for fourth place at even par 72. Freshmen Kevin Chappell and Daniel Im and sophomore Peter Campbell were tied for sixth place at 73. Sophomore Chris Heintz was tied for 19th at 75.

Northwestern's Bryson Young was the leader in the clubhouse at two-under par 70, followed by Arizona State's Alejandro Canizares and USC's Taylor Wood at 71.
