The UCLA novice eight finished second in their preliminary race but third overall in the Women's Collegiate Novice Grand Final.
The UCLA women's rowing team faced marina rival, Loyola Marymount (Mar. 27) and cross-town rival, USC (Mar. 28). Against LMU, the Bruins swept all three races: the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four competitions. With the victory in the varsity eight, UCLA captured the Karen Hock-Hjelm Cup for the second consecutive year to even the series at 2-2.
UCLA competed at USC the following morning at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro. The Bruins dropped the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four competitions to the Women of Troy and lost by a final score of 6-0. The Novice Eight competition was ruled a "no contest" due to interference by a motorboat veering off the course.
