Senior John Merrick (Long Beach, CA/Wilson HS) of the UCLA Men's Golf Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 15-21.
Merrick won his first individual title of the season and second of his career and also led the Bruin team to its first team tournament title at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational in Toledo, OH. Merrick finished with a three-round total of 216 (71-74-71), three-over par, to edge Toledo's Brad Heaven by one shot. As a team, UCLA posted a 54-hole total of 886 (294-300-292), 10 strokes ahead of second-place Kansas State.
This is Merrick's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of his career.
