Berkeley, CA - The No. 17 California women's tennis team fell to No. 11 UCLA, 6-1. With the loss, the Golden Bears' record falls to 4-3 overall while the Bruins improve to 6-3.
UCLA opened the match picking up the doubles point, sweeping all three doubles matches.
In singles play, freshman Suzi Babos, ranked seventh nationally, picked up a win for the Bears on court one, defeating No. 38 Daniela Bercek in straight sets, 7-5; 6-2. The win, Babos' 22nd of the year, is her seventh over an opponent ranked nationally in the top 50.
Freshman Cristina Visico came up just shy of a victory on court five, losing a hard-fought three-set match to UCLA's Laura Gordon, 6-4; 4-6; 6-4.
The Bruins return to action on March 4, hosting cross-town rival USC at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
