Corona del Mar, Calif. - Brian Brown scored consecutive extra-man goals in the third quarter to help the fifth ranked UCLA Bruins to a 10-7 victory over the No. 1 ranked California Bears in the third place game of the Southern California Tournament. In the semi-finals, the Bruins fell to the eventual tournament champions, USC, 5-4. After the tournament, the Bruins' record stands at 4-2.
In the third place game, Brown and Adam Wright led the Bruins with three goals each. Freshman Albert Garcia added a pair of goals, while Dave Parker and Andy Bailey scored one goal each. Goalie Brandon Brooks made four saves in net.
USC defeated Stanford 9-5 in the championship game. UC Irvine placed fifth, beating UC San Diego 11-7, while Long Beach State defeated Pacific 9-7 to place seventh.
The Bruins return to action next weekend when they play at the University of Pacific on Sunday at Noon.
