Westwood, Calif. - The second-ranked UCLA men's soccer team (16-2-0) will host 14th-ranked San Diego (14-3-0) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday, November 21 at UCLA's North Athletic Field at 1 pm. The three-time NCAA champion Bruins are 12-2-2 all-time against the Toreros, defeating them 2-0 in the last match a year ago.
Should UCLA win, it will advance to the second round to meet the winner of Saturday's match between No. 3 seed and fourth-ranked St. Louis (16-3-2) and Illinois-Chicago (17-3-0).
UCLA is making its 17th consecutive and 27th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins' all-time NCAA record is 41-24. In addition to winning national titles in 1997, 1990 and 1985, UCLA has finished second three times (1970, 1972, 1973), third twice (1984, 1994) and fourth once (1974).
