Spencer Gloger Transferring To Princeton

Sept. 26, 2001

Spencer Gloger, a 6-7 forward who would have been a sophomore on the UCLA squad this year, has transferred to Princeton, Bruin head coach Steve Lavin announced Wednesday.

It is Gloger's second stop at the Ivy League school. In May 1999, he signed a Grant-in-Aid to attend UCLA, but instead enrolled at Princeton for the 1999-00 school year. Gloger, who is from Mission Viejo and prepped at Santa Margarita HS, had a successful freshman season at Princeton. He started 28 games, averaged 12.0 points and 3.4 rebounds and earned honorable mention All-Ivy League.

At the end of his freshman year at Princeton, Gloger transferred to UCLA. He sat out the 2000-01 campaign and would have been a sophomore on this year's Bruin squad.

"From my conversations with Spencer, it is my understanding he has decided to concentrate solely on his academics and as a result, will not play college basketball," Lavin said. "Whatever he decides to do, we respect his decision and wish him the best of luck."
