UCLA No. 5 In The U.S. In This Week's Trackwire 25

In this week's (April 25) Trackwire 25, UCLA is rated No. 5 in the U.S. Jeanette Bolden's Bruins, the defending NCAA Outdoor T & F Champions, last week were also ranked No. 5 in the U. S.

Rounding out the nation's Top Five teams are -1. Texas (65), 2. South Carolina (49), 3. Florida/Tennessee (43), 5. UCLA (42). UCLA's archrival, USC, is rated No. 9 (25) in the country. On Saturday (April 30), the Bruin women and men's teams will travel across town to face the Trojans in the annual traditional dual meet. UCLA leads the series 18-3 and has won the last 12 consecutive dual meets vs. the Trojans (Bolden is 11-0 vs. USC).

This week's Trackwire Top 25 - 1. Texas (65), 2. South Carolina (49), 3. Florida/ Tennessee (43), 5. UCLA (42), 6. Miami,(FL) (39), 7. Stanford (37), 8. Nebraska (30), 9. USC (25), 10. Texas Southern (20), 11. North Carolina (19), 12. BYU/Washington State (17), 14. Duke (16), 15. Arizona State/Auburn/Alabama (15), 18. Georgia/Georgia Tech (14), 20. Oklahoma State/Clemson (13), 22. Baylor (12), 23. Kansas State/Kansas/Cal Poly/Arkansas/Wake Forest (11).

On May 14-15, UCLA will host the 2005 Pac-10 Championships at Drake Stadium. Currently there are five women's Pac-10 teams in the nation's Top 25 - No. 5 UCLA, No. 7 Stanford, No. 9 USC, No. 12 Washington State and No. 15 Arizona State.

In this week's Dandy Dozen, there are eight Bruins listed, including two event leaders - senior Monique Henderson (400m) and junior Chelsea Johnson (PV).
