LOS ANGELES (AP) - Desmon Farmer scored 25 points, Errick Craven added 24 points and USC used a second-half surge to beat crosstown rival UCLA 80-75 Wednesday night for the Trojans' first win at Pauley Pavilion in 10 years.

Neither team was ranked in the matchup of two rebuilding teams that lost players who had dominated the series in recent years. The lone veteran was UCLA senior Jason Kapono, who was coming off a 44-point performance against Washington State last weekend, but was held to 10 points on 4-of-15 field goal shooting.

The loss was costly for the Bruins (4-6, 2-1 Pac-10). They blew a chance to stay atop the conference standings, had their two-game winning streak snapped and lost for the fourth time at home this season.

With 38 seconds left, USC fans chanted "Just like football," a reference to the Trojans' victory over UCLA in the fall. USC coach Henry Bibby, who won three national championships as a star guard for the Bruins, has a chance to sweep his alma mater for the first time since 1992 when the teams meet again in February.

Dijon Thompson led five UCLA players in double figures with 16 points. T.J. Cummings added 13 points and 14 rebounds as the teams each grabbed 41 rebounds.

The Trojans (6-4, 2-1) started four sophomores along with Farmer, a junior, in their first win in Westwood since a 72-62 victory in 1993. They rallied from 10 points down and closed with a 15-7 run to trail 40-38 at halftime.

The teams traded one-point leads for the first seven minutes of the second half. Shortly after Farmer hit his third 3-pointer of the game, the Trojans ran off 12 unanswered points for a 61-50 lead with 10:44 remaining.

Farmer hit two 3-pointers and made another basket and Derrick Craven had five points in the spurt that produced USC's first double-digit lead of the game. During the run, Farmer fell hard on his back under the basket and was called for the foul. He got up stiffly and two minutes later hit his fifth 3-pointer to cap USC's run. Farmer finished with five 3-pointers.

Spurred on by 12,736 - the largest crowd at Pauley this season - UCLA rallied to trail 70-66 on a basket by Thompson with 4:47 left that was part of a 14-7 run. The Trojans hurt themselves with two consecutive turnovers by Derrick Craven, whose passes to Farmer went out of bounds.

Thompson got fouled and made both free throws to pull UCLA within two.

Errick Craven hit consecutive jumpers to keep USC ahead 74-68 with 1:29 left. His twin brother, Derrick, missed two free throws and Andre Patterson dunked as UCLA trailed 74-70 with 1:19 left.

Errick Craven stole the ball at midcourt from Ryan Walcott and scored on the fastbreak layin to preserve USC's victory as fans poured out of Pauley in the final minute.
