Sophomore wide receiver Brandon Breazell (Fresno, CA/Edison HS) of the UCLA Football Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week (Dec. 26-Jan. 1).
Against Northwestern in the Sun Bowl, Breazell earned Special Teams Player of the Game honors. With 2:29 remaining and UCLA holding a 36-31 lead, he grabbed an onside kick and raced 42 yards for a touchdown. With 24 seconds remaining following a Northwestern touchdown, Breazell fielded another onside kick and returned this one 45 yards for his second touchdown. He also made two receptions for 17 yards.
On the year, his 24 receptions ranked fifth on the squad, while his four receiving touchdowns rank second (tied). Overall, he ranked third on the squad with six touchdowns and averaged 43.5 yards on two kickoff returns.
This is Breazell's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
