The UCLA men's soccer team wrapped up its spring season with a 2-0 victory at Cal State Northridge on Saturday, giving the Bruins an unblemished record against collegiate teams in spring games. UCLA outscored its collegiate opponents, 6-1.

Sophomore Mike Zaher and freshman Kyle Nakazawa provided the scoring for the Bruins against the Matadors, UCLA's opening day opponent on Aug. 26, 2006. Zaher recorded the game-winning goal on a free kick from 25 yards out, and Nakazawa converted a penalty kick for the final goal of the game. Goalkeepers Eric Reed and Eric Conner shared the shutout.

In UCLA's other inter-collegiate spring game on Apr. 15, the Bruins recorded a 4-1 victory over UC Riverside in Fullerton. Freshman forward Maxwell Griffin scored two goals in the contest, and Nakazawa and Sal Zizzo also added goals. Reed and Conner both played in goal.

The leading goal scorers for UCLA in the spring were Griffin and Nakazawa, who had two goals apiece. Zizzo, Zaher and Damon James recorded one each.

In all, it was a productive spring season for the Bruins, who will enter the 2006 season with one of the most highly-touted freshman classes in the nation. Two of those freshmen - Nakazawa and James Jaramillo - enrolled in school during spring quarter and saw early action with their veteran teammates.
