Junior Ben Kohlloeffel (Herne, Germany/Otto-Hahn Gymnasium) of the UCLA Men's Tennis team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week (May 22-29).
Kohlloeffel became UCLA's first NCAA singles champion in 31 years, defeating Virginia's Somdev Devvarman, 6-1, 6-4 Monday afternoon in the NCAA Finals at Stanford University. Kohlloeffel finishes his junior season with a 47-4 overall record, including a 31-2 record against ranked opponents, and he ended the year by winning 13 in a row and 27 of his last 28. He became only the second player in history to win the ITA National Indoor and NCAA titles in same season.
This is Kohlloeffel's second UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
