Junior driver Brett Ormsby (El Cajon/Valhalla) was named to the national team roster for the upcoming World Championships and Pan Am Games. Ormsby joins fomer Bruins Brandon Brooks and Adam Wright on the squad, while redshirt freshman Chris Pulido (La Jolla/Bishop's School) has been invited to play with the U.S. Junior National Team
Ormsby was named a First-Team All-American after leading the Bruins to a third place finish in the MPSF Tournament in 2002. A first-team All-MPSF selection, Ormsby posted 58 goals last season to lead UCLA. It will not be his first tour of duty with Team USA, as he also played in the Unicum Cup in Budapest, Hungary last year.
Brooks, who finished his UCLA career with a win over eventual National Champion Stanford, will also join the national team. UCLA's all-time saves leader and a four-time All-America selection, Brooks will battle with Genai Kerr for time in the net.
A three-time All-American and two-time National Champion, Wright will rejoin the squad after playing with the team since 2001. Widely regarded as one of the top ball distributors in the country, Wright will provide experience and leadership to the younger Bruins.
After redshirting last season, Pulido will join the U.S. Junior National Team for the Junior World Championships, which will be held in Naples, Italy on August 8-17th. Pulido competed with the team last year when they claimed a silver medal at the Junior Pan Am Games.
