Bruins Conclude Play at NCAA Championships

May 23, 2003

Athens, Ga. - The UCLA doubles team of Rodrigo Grilli and Marcin Matkowski fell in the round of 16 Friday at the NCAA Championships at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Grilli and Matkowski lost in straight sets to 5-8 seeded Michael Kogan/Victor Romero of Tulane, 6-4, 6-4. Their loss concludes UCLA's participation in the NCAA Individual Tournament, as Tobias Clemens, Chris Lam and Matkowski were all defeated in singles play earlier this week.

As a team, the Bruins fell to Vanderbilt, 4-3 in the semifinals on May 19. UCLA finished the 2003 season with a 24-4 overall record.
