Rammel Named To Rutgers' 20th Anniversary Team

July 25, 2000

Piscataway, NJ - UCLA assistant men's soccer coach Steve Rammel was selected to Rutgers' 20th Anniversary Team in an online vote conducted by Rutgers University in commemoration of men's soccer head coach Bob Reasso's 20th season.

Rammel, a 1990 Hermann Trophy finalist and a first-team All-American was voted onto the second team. In just two seasons at Rutgers, Rammel scored 34 goals and 84 points and remains in the Top 10 in Rutgers' all-time career record books in those categories. Rammel led the Scarlet Knights to a 1989 NCAA Final Four berth and to the 1990 NCAA Championship game against UCLA.

He went on to become an All-Star and MLS Cup champion with D.C. United before joining the Bruin staff in 1998.

In addition to Rammel's honor, the 1990 NCAA Championship game pitting Rutgers against UCLA was selected as Rutgers' greatest game in the past 20 years. UCLA won that game 1-0 on penalty kicks.
