Santa Barbara, CA- UCLA junior swimmer Katie Younglove (Sacramento, CA) was selected to the Verizon Fall/Winter Women's At-Large Academic First Team for District VIII, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Younglove, a communication studies major with a 3.81 gpa, finished the 2000-01 regular season on a strong note, placing seventh in 100 Fly and sixth in 200 Fly at 2001 Pac-10 Championships and was a vital component in helping UCLA win its first ever Pac-10 title. She also competed in both the 100 and 200 Fly at the 2001 NCAA Championships
The two-time All-American also ranks second on both the 100 fly and 200 fly on the Bruin all-time list.
In order to be eligible for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), must be a starter or important reserve and be in at least their second season at their current school. District VIII includes schools in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and British Columbia.
