Already armed with a 10-member standout recruiting class, UCLA men's soccer coach Jorge Salcedo added two more big names, signing U.S. U-18 National Team goalkeeper Brian Perk and former U-18 National Team forward Anthony Beltran to national letters of intent.

Perk, who hails from Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., was in residency with the U.S. U-17 National Team and has since moved on to the U-18s. He was a member of the 2005 U-17 World Championship squad and is currently playing with the U-18s at the Slovakia Cup this week. Perk NSCAA/adidas Boys Youth All-America honors in 2005.

Beltran is transferring to UCLA from St. John's University, where he played 21 games with 10 starts and scored two goals and three assists as a freshman in 2005. Beltran prepped at Claremont HS in Claremont, Calif. and played club soccer for Arsenal FC. He was a starter for the U.S. Under-18 National Team at the 2005 Milk Cup, playing alongside future UCLA teammates Sal Zizzo, Jason Leopoldo and Greg Folk and helping the U.S. win the tournament.

The signing of Perk and Beltran gives UCLA a total of seven U.S. Youth National Team players in the current recruiting class. The duo will join U-17 players Kyle Nakazawa and Patrick Rickards, U-18 player Michael Stephens, U-20 and U-18 player Chance Myers, former U-16 player Ryan White, as well as James Jaramillo, Andrew Sinderhoff, Danny Suits, Trevor Hunter and Robert Georgiefski in the 2006 fall season.

"We are very excited to add two more quality players to an already terrific recruiting class," Salcedo said. "Both Anthony Beltran and Brian Perk have tremendous experience at the Youth National Team level. We expect both of them to have an immediate impact on our team. Anthony is a very good player on both sides of the ball. His quickness and ability to make passes will make our midfield more dynamic. Brian is a well-rounded goalkeeper. He is a fierce competitor and will push our goalkeepers every day. With the signing of Perk and Beltran, our 12-player class gives us great depth at several positions. Losing key players to our 2005 team will be difficult to overcome, but I feel very confident that several of these players will step in and help us have a very successful season."
