Bruin Women Ready for Mt. SAC Relays, LB Invitational

Most of the No. 10 UCLA women's track and field team will head to Walnut, CA Wednesday through Saturday for the Mt. SAC Relays, while the pole vaulters and two distance runners will head to Long Beach, CA on Friday for the Long Beach Invitational.

The heptathlon competition will take place on Wednesday and Thursday at Azusa Pacific University as sophomore Georgea Richards is scheduled to compete. It will be her first heptathlon competition in nearly two years after having to sit out last season with an injury. In 2004 at the Pac-10 Championships, Richards scored 4,734 in the heptathlon competition. On Wednesday, she will compete in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m. Thursday will feature the long jump, javelin throw and 800m

The Mt. SAC Relays features three different levels of competition - university/open, Olympic development and invitational. The Bruins women will be featured in all three categories highlighted by seniors Chelsea Johnson and Leslie Barrie, junior Ashley Caldwell and sophomore Renee Williams in invitational sections of their respective events. Both the 4x100m and 4x400m relay will also be in the invitational sections.

Long Beach Invitational
Senior Sarah West, junior Jenna Timinsky and the pole vaulters will compete at the Long Beach Invitational on Friday.

Timinsky will run the 1500m at 10:50 am, while West will run the 5000m at 3:25 pm. Sophomores Nicci Faires, Megan Jamerson, Ingrid Kantola and Elizabeth Woepse, and freshman Anastasia Papadakis will jump in the open section of the pole vault at 9:30 am. Junior Jacqueline Nguyen will compete in the top section of the pole vault at 11:00 am.
