The UCLA men's golf team leads the Wildcat Invitational by one stroke after 36 holes in a tournament hosted by the University of Arizona at Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson.
Although several teams were still on the course when darkness fell Monday, UCLA, Pepperdine and Arizona finished their rounds and were within two strokes of each other. The Bruins, who compiled a two-round total of 551, are 17-under par, followed by the Waves at 552 and Arizona at 553.
UCLA juniors Roy Moon and Travis Johnson remained in the hunt for the individual lead at seven-under par 135. In the afternoon round Johnson posted a solid 69 and Moon carded a one-under par 70. Both players trail the leader, Chris Beryle of Texas-El Paso, by one shot. UCLA freshman Spencer Levin posted a 69 and is tied for 20th at one-under par 141, and junior Steve Conway carded a 70 and is tied for 25th at 142. Junior John Merrick is tied for 33rd at 143.
Final round action continues Tuesday.
