UCLA Women's Tennis Players Set to Begin Pac-10 Championships . . .
After concluding the dual-match regular season last week, the 18th-ranked UCLA women's tennis team (13-6; 5-3 Pac-10) now turns its attention to the Pac-10 Championships, Apr. 27-30 in Ojai, Calif. Laura Gordon, Riza Zalameda, Tracy Lin and Alex McGoodwin will be competing in the main singles draw at Ojai. The Pac-10 Invitational singles draw will feature Ashley Joelson, Elizabeth Lumpkin and Anna-Viktoria Lind. Participating in the main doubles draw are the teams of Gordon/Zalameda and Lumpkin/McGoodwin. Joelson/Lin are in the Pac-10 Invitational doubles draw. The women will play the first two days of the tournament at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club before joining the men at Libbey Park on Saturday and Sunday.

Past UCLA Winners at The Ojai . . .
UCLA's last Pac-10 Singles Champion was Sara Walker, who defeated Arizona State's Allison Bradshaw, 6-1, 6-1 in the 2000 final. Walker also made up one half of UCLA's last doubles team to win a title at Ojai, as she teamed with Mariko Fritz-Krockow to claim the championship in 2001. In addition to Walker, Jane Thomas (1987), Keri Phebus (1995) and Annica Cooper (1998) have won singles titles in Ojai.
Final 2006 Pac-10 Standings . . .
Stanford wins the 2006 Pac-10 title with a perfect 8-0 record. USC checks in at second with a 7-1 mark, followed by third place Cal (6-2) and fourth place UCLA (5-3). ASU (5th - 4-4), Arizona (6th - 3-5), Oregon (7th - 2-6), Washington State (8th - 1-7) and Washington (9th - 0-8) round out the rest of the standings.
UCLA Checks in at No. 18 in Fila/ITA Rankings . . .
UCLA checks in at No. 18 in the latest Fila/ITA Team Rankings released Tuesday. Individual rankings were also released, and Laura Gordon is UCLA's highest ranked singles player at No. 25. She is followed by No. 46 Tracy Lin, No. 58 Alex McGoodwin, No. 61 Riza Zalameda and No. 105 Ashley Joelson. Gordon and Riza Zalameda are ranked No. 25 in doubles. New team and individual rankings will be released on May 1.
Joelson, Lin Approaching 30-Win Club . . .
Sophomore Tracy Lin and freshman Ashley Joelson are the two Bruin players who have a legitimate shot at reaching 30 singles wins this season. Lin is currently 27-10 overall and could reach the 30-win mark with a strong showing in Ojai. Joelson is 25-11 and would need to win the Pac-10 Invitational and pick up another win in the NCAA Tournament. Riza Zalameda was the only player to join the 30-win club last year, as she finished the season with a 31-12 overall record.
NCAA 64-Team Draw Announced on May 3 . . .
The 2006 NCAA Division I men's and women's tennis selection announcements will take place on Wednesday, May 3 on ESPNEWS. The men's announcement will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the women's announcement at approximately 8:45 p.m. Eastern time. If the Bruins are one of the 16-seeded teams, they will likely host first and second round regional matches at the LATC, May 13-15. Teams that advance through regional play will move on to the 16-team NCAA Championships, May 18-22 at Stanford University.
Head Coach Stella Sampras Webster . . .
Stella Sampras Webster is in her 10th season as the head coach of the UCLA women's tennis team. She owns a career record of 163-89 (.647). In her first nine seasons at UCLA, Sampras Webster guided the Bruins to eight top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, including five top-5 showings (1997, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004). In 2004, she led UCLA to the NCAA Finals for the first time since 1991. It also marked the first time since 1991 that the Bruins surpassed the 20-win mark, finishing with a 21-8 overall record.
